Board Certified
Why choose a board certified orthodontist?
An orthodontist is a dentist who has completed an additional 2-3 years of specialty training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics after dental school.
After becoming an orthodontist, there is a voluntary board certification process taken through the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) that represents an orthodontist’s commitment to the standards of specialty practice. In order to become board certified, an orthodontist completes rigorous written and oral examinations to demonstrate their orthodontic knowledge, clinical skills and judgment.
This process can take anywhere from 3-5 years to complete and only 30% of all orthodontists are ABO certified.
Dr. Johnson is proud to have successfully completed his Board Certification and is now a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
